During this phase of your exam, the technician will perform a series of computerized readings which give Dr. Janot a great starting point of how well you see. Using infrared light, the MARCO M3 instrument gives a prescription, the exact distance between your eyes (which makes for more accuracy on your glasses) and the precise shape of the front of your eyes (the cornea), telling us about any astigmatism you may have.
Next, a test of your eye pressure is performed. All of these tests are painless! Finally, if you currently have a pair of glasses, we read the prescription in those with another specialized computer called a lensometer.
This complete set of information about your eyes is scanned onto a specialized data card and then follows you to your exam with Dr. Janot!
